Treat people as if they are valuable to the organization and they will be valuable to the organization. They come to work motivated and innovative, but because of how they are treated they soon become demotivated and demoralized. In that state, their natural capacities to create, innovate and be productive are lost to the organization. Remove the demotivators and their capabilities will once more be used on their work.

The most likely major demotivator is use of the traditional top-down command and control approach to managing employees. Get rid of that and adopt its opposite, that of bottom-up, and suddenly innovation will go through the roof as will their morale. In my 30+ years of managing people, I proved that to be true.

Best regards, Ben
